formnext trade show: discover abrasion-resistant 3D printing innovations live

Thank you for visiting us at formnext 2023

We had a great time at Europe's largest trade show for additive manufacturing, and would like to thank you for visiting us.

At the igus stand, visitors could discover our extremely abrasion-resistant and self-lubricating plastics for 3D printing - for their own 3D printer or in the igus 3D printing service. This is what our iglidur plain bearing materials are made for.

In addition to our best-selling materials, we also presented brand-new ones, optimised formulations and valuable online tools at the trade show.

Our highlights at the trade show

The highlight at our trade show stand was iglidur i230. The slide-optimised laser sintering material is PFAS-free with improved mechanical strength and withstands application temperatures of up to 110°C. Due to the wide range of electrical-engineering applications, we also developed the new iglidur i9-ESD laser sintering powder for sensitive electronic components.

The igus 3D Printing Team is already looking forward to meeting you again next year and to presenting our innovations for industrial 3D printing.

We look forward to seeing you at formnext 2024!

3D printing materials, methods and services

Laser sintering material for high application temperatures

3D-printed plain bearing made of iglidur i230 laser sintering powder The new iglidur i230 withstands long-term temperatures of up to 110° Celsius. The material is also 80% more wear-resistant than PA12, a standard laser sintering 3D printing material. iglidur i230 also has the highest flexural strength of all igus laser sintering materials. Become an iglidur i230 beta tester now and request a sample.

ESD-compatible SLS powder for electrical engineering

ESD material for 3D laser sintering With its electrical resistance of 10to 109ohms, the laser sintering powder is electrostatically dissipative while reducing the risk of unwanted discharge currents between sensitive components. This makes it ideal for applications in the electronics and semiconductor industries. It is available as a material in the shop and can be had from the 3D printing service in five to ten days.

3D printing resin with increased stability for wear-resistant parts

Worm wheel and ball bearing cage made of 3D printed resin  iglidur i3000 gives igus the world's first resin developed specifically for DLP 3D printing of gears and wear-resistant parts. The mechanical specifications have now been improved by 50%, so that the parts made of synthetic resin, which are hardened in layers with UV light, feature extremely fine details and a very long service life. Now also available as a material in the online 3D printing service.

Improved online tool for the 3D printing service

Online 3D printing service The update to the 3D printing service tool now gives users all the information they need regarding price, manufacturability, delivery time, and expected service life of the component to be printed. Threads in the printed components can now also be recut.

ESD material for low-cost laser sintering systems

ESD material for low-cost laser sintering printers iglidur i8-ESD is an electrostatically dissipative SLS material (resistance: 104 to 107 ohms) for durable, abrasion-resistant 3D-printed components that can be processed on all laser sintering systems, with or without a CO2 laser. The consistently black powder is now also available in 2kg containers for processing on low-cost systems.

For more productivity in 3D filament printing

iglidur i150 on 2kg spools Our easy-to-process iglidur i150 all-rounder filament is now available on a 2kg-spool. Spool changes are no longer necessary during the 3D printing of very large components or multiple components in a single process. This greatly increases productivity and generates less filament residue.

Fixed flange bearings for high precision and low clearance

drylin® W360CM fixed flange bearings The W360CM-series linear plain bearings for drylin R round shaft guides features improved rigidity for very low clearance at the operating point. The new fixed flange bearing is corrosion-free and available in three sizes – for column guides with igus round shafts made of aluminium, steel, and stainless steel.

dryspin zero-backlash lead screw nut

dryspin® zero-backlash lead screw nuts on an aluminium lead screw One of the most precise solutions for reducing axial clearance is the zero backlash lead screw nut. It consists of several components and is self-adjusting. It is particularly well suited to lead screw drives with high helix threads for quick adjustment of small loads.

Small & spring-loaded miniature guide

drylin T miniature drylin T miniature guides are ideal for adjustments in small and limited installation spaces.
For the 09, 12, and 15 installation sizes, igus has now developed new linear carriages with selectable spring pre-load. They feature controlled friction thanks to defined displacement forces and quiet, rattle-free operation.
