    Dual-plane fluoroscope of the LMB with e-chains

    Compact cable protection at high speed on the dual-plane fluoroscope

    A team of biomechanics researchers at ETH Zurich has developed a dual-plane fluoroscope that can track highly dynamic human joint movements in 3D and capture high-resolution, biplanar X-ray images at high speed. Two types of igus energy chains are used to safely guide the many power and signal cables on the high-speed imaging units during fluoroscopy.

    Knee joint prostheses from Ottobock

    Plastic bearings ensure greater safety for knee joint prostheses

    Ottobock had problems with the needle and bronze bearings in the functional joint points of its knee joint prostheses, which quickly led to a loss of function and a safety risk. The PTFE tape initially used in pneumatic prostheses was also unsatisfactory due to high assembly costs and rapid wear. With iglidur W300 and Q plain bearings as well as iglidur J guide rings, the problems were easily solved.

    Tested for real-life use in the test laboratory

    All products are tested for wear and load-bearing capacity under real-life conditions in the igus test laboratory, the largest in the industry. The results are incorporated into our online tools for calculating service life, which provides you with accurate predictions of durability. The test rigs also include a cleanroom laboratory where, with the support of the Fraunhofer IPA, we can quickly develop particle-free products suitable for cleanrooms up to Class 1 air purity.

    Upon request, we also carry out customer tests to check the use of the products under very specific conditions.
